I have been working pretty hard the last 7 or so months, trying to lose some weight and get healthier.  It is hard, no doubt, but having lost about half the pounds (70 lbs), I have seen some great results.

My Goals

Of course, everybody’s goal is personal.  My goals were the following…

1.  To decrease my resting blood pressure.

2.  To break my reliance on any and all prescription/over the counter medication.

3.  To lose weight so that I look and feel better.

Blood Pressure

My pressure was, and remains, the major goal of using this program.  When I started in February, my resting blood pressure was 150/95.  In the first 21 days, I lost 13.6 lbs and my blood pressure dropped about 10 points.  It then plateaued out while I continued to lose weight.  Then at about 35-40 lbs, I got another major 10+ point drop in blood pressure.  Then, it again plateaued out for a while.  At 60 lbs, I got another major drop in blood pressure.

Now, my blood pressure is a consistent 110-115/64-70.  As I continue to work hard exercising and in the kitchen, I have no doubt that I will get one more major drop.

Medication

I have dropped all gastrointestinal medication.  I have cured my chronic indigestion/heartburn with the 21 Day Fix  eating program.  I have also dropped in my blood pressure medication.  In February I was taking 600 milligrams a day (2 X 300 milligram pills).  Then, I dropped down to 400 milligrams a day (2 X 200 milligram pills).  Now I am at 300 milligrams a day (100 milligrams in the morning and 200 milligrams at night).  It takes so long to wean off the stuff it’s ridiculous.  My next drop will be to 200 milligrams a day (100 milligrams in the morning and one at bedtime).  Then, 100 milligrams a day.

Just as a note, I am a genetic blood pressure case.  It can be done and I know how to do it!

Weight Loss

I have lost nothing with this program – except of course 70 lbs of fat.  I have gained confidence and inner strength.  I have learned how to eat.   I can almost look in a mirror and be happy with what I see.  I feel great on the inside – and I think it shows on the outside.

As you can see, I believe in this program fully.

What is the 21-Day Fix?

It’s a portioned controlled clean eating, daily exercise program.  You use portioned controlled containers to eat fruits, veggies, lean meats, and healthy fats.  The exercise portion includes a mix of cardio, weight training, and toning.  You work different muscle groups at once to increase fat burning results It’s an excellent program.  You do a different set of exercises each day – and together they enhance fat burning and increase the building of lean muscle (which burns fat).

What is a Challenge Group

Basically, it is a group of like-minded people who work the same program for a certain amount of time.  They check in once a day for support and accountability.  The rules of my challenge groups are as follows…

  1. 100% commit to your own health.
  2. You do at least the 30 minute workouts every single day (Monday-Sunday).  You can do more, but you at least have to do the workouts.
  3. You drink your nutrient dense super shake (Shakeology) once a day.  This gives you 27 essential vitamins and nutrients, repairs muscles, and builds energy.  It’s super tasty as well!
  4. You follow the eating plan every single day, by using your portioned controlled containers.  The clean eating will help you to lose fat and build lean muscle.  The eating and the exercise goes hand-and-hand.  You can’t do one without the other.
  5. Check in once a day for accountability.  This piece is very important.  The people who make a point to check in to work out issues, celebrate success, ask questions and gain support – are the ones that see wonderful results.

My responsibilities are as follows….

  1. I will work out with you, follow the program and commit 100% to my health.
  2. I will provide inspiration to help you keep going.
  3. I will provide you nutrition support in forms of tips, interesting articles, and recipes.
  4. I will check in at least once a day to answer questions.
  5. Be there 100% for you if you are there 100% for yourself.

If you are interested in joining my challenge group, it starts on September 8th.  Since the kids will be in school, I am hoping that it will give you time to dedicate to yourself.

I am accepting only 4 people.  If you are interested, please email me lisa {at} squishablebaby {dot} com.
