A Beautiful Rainbow World – World Music with Daria and Giveaway

I had a wedding planning business for 10 years, and from that I have learned to be very selective in the products and services that I recommend.  When I recommend a product, it must stand up the the rigorous standard – that I myself hold dear.  My reputation as an honest source depends upon it.  A bad recommendation always comes back to bite you in the rear.

With that said, often times you can see the winners from the starting gate.  You just have that feeling in the pit of your stomach.  Daria – she’s a winner.  She is more than a winner, she is amazing.  She is incredible.  When I put in the CD, and started singing with the songs myself, I knew it was amazing.

Artist:  Daria Marmaluk-Hajioannou

CD’s Received for Review:  A Beautiful Rainbow World, Grandchildren’s Delight, Songs for a Multicultural Mirth

Biography:  For the last 20 years, Daria, an internationally known folk singer, has traveled the world – learning, sharing and making music.  She brings music and advocates peace the world over.  In the US, she has won national awards, including NAPPA (National Association for Parenting Publications) for her Children’s CD’s.  Her CD’s have been used around the world (including in South Africa, Australia and the US) with the purpose of teaching tolerance.  The multicultural activities in her website are amazing – and we use them in extensively in our homeschool.

Review:  My 4 year old daughter was a willing participant in helping me review Daria’s music.  She was very willing to sit down and listen.  My 9 year old son, who seems to like loud pop music (ear ringing in the car loud) was more reluctant.  He told me on many occasions that he wasn’t going to listen to Daria’s music.  He professed that he didn’t like world music (without even hearing it), and that he absolutely would not enjoy it.

We shall see.

I turned Daria’s music on as we were making our instruments for inspiration.  Often it I find that inspiration is key to getting into the mood.

Both my daughter and son began dancing and singing along.  The baby bounced to the beat.  I loved it!

Daria’s voice is a gift.  It’s beautiful.

The messages are fantastic!  The beat is wonderful.

She is the true voice of tolerance.

She is a voice of peace.

She is a voice of inspiration.

She is a voice of happiness.

She is a voice of togetherness.

These are the messages kids should receive in their every day lives.

When hearing her music, my daughter not only began singing, but on her own, she began painting.  It’s like, the music was her inspiration to create.

The blue person is me.  The little black girl is Ava.  We are holding Grayson between us.  Hadyn is the green guy holding Ava’s hand.  Dad is the red dude with the long odd arm holding my hand.  It’s raining and we are all standing together, but the sun is right behind the rain.  You see it up there?  You see the rainbow in the middle.

I am not an art critic, but to me, it’s a painting of hope.  The rain is about to disappear and bring forth the rainbow and sun. Sunny days are ahead for all of us!

When she was painting this, we were listening to A Beautiful Rainbow World.   It’s a beautiful song – and an inspiration to my daughter to create this painting.

In the end, my son came up to me and said – okay, I guess I like World Music.  It’s good.

I liken Daria to the Laurie Berkner of World Music.  She is just – that good!  She is able to connect with kids and adults of all ages and bring out the best!

Daria’s music will be the perfect addition to our homeschool curriculum.  We will use her website not only to make instruments, and learn world geography in a fun way – but also as lessons in history – with the CD she created in dedication to the life and times of Martin Luther King Jr.  I will be purchasing the I Have a Dream CD.  Daria offers a wealth of information and crafts that I will be using daily as I strive to raise worldly and godly children.

I find it a blessing that I was introduced to Daria’s music, and I do not hesitate to recommend it to anyone.  I promise you, you and the kids will love it!

    • Ophelia,

Thanks for stopping by! It’s funny how music can inspire you to do things that you wouldn’t normally do. It’s funny how it can reach you in those ways.

If the kids love good music, no problems with listening to it everyday!

  8. Hey Lisa! Thank you for sharing! Kids are so impressionable and they love music! My son enjoys every tune he hears when we are sitting somewhere and music from a commerical comes on or from anything really. He does this little bounce dance now. We love educational songs to help him learn things too. Sounds like a very interesting CD to get for the kids.

    • You are absolutely right about that Brittnei. My 1 year old does the same thing. Anytime a song comes on, he loves to bouce and clap his hands! He will even cry in the car until I turn on the music.

The CD is lovely! We play ours all the time!

Thanks for being such an awesome and hard working co-host!

      Have a great week!
