Aack!!!!! I Have been Hacked!

It’s a cold and lonely place, being hacked.  Google rejects you.  Norton rejects you.  Your mommy blogger friends avoid you like the plague.

It’s awful.

Luckily, there are a lot of companies out there to help you.

Getting Hacked Resources

SiteLock is the best-known solution.  When contacting them, they quoted me $300-$600 to clean up the site, plus $100 per month for monitoring.

Depressed and frustrated, I thought I would have to give up my squishablebaby.com forever.  There was no way I was going to be able to pay upwards of $500 plus $100 for monitoring.  It was totally out of the question.

I needed someone who would clean my site, for a more reasonable price.

So then I had to go on the investigation.  I looked at many companies not only for price but also looked for the following qualities that were important to me…

Availability via phone and email

Availability on the weekends

Response time

Quality and amount of testimonials

US-based

Price of initial clean-up

Price of continuous monitoring

Ability to make it right with Google, Norton, McAfee, etc.

Quality of customer Service

I used Unhack.  They cleaned the site for $250, and they will monitor for $30 per month.  You can pay month-to-month or purchase an annual agreement, and get a month free. They will also host my site for free as part of the monthly monitoring fee, which will save me money as I don’t have to pay Hostgaotro for that service.

My site was done within a few hours and fixed with Google within 24 hours.

I didn’t have to stay on top of them.  I didn’t have to work at all.  In fact, they emailed me and told me when everything was cleared with Google.

They are very good at what they do, and are much more reasonable than SiteLock.

  2. Glad you found a reasonable solution! I got hacked too. I cleaned up my site myself and I found a monitoring site for $10 a month. I think it’s the one from All in One WP Security – a great wordpress plugin for security.

  3. Glad you found your way back! I was wondering what had happened with your site. Pinning this so I’ll know what to do if it ever happens to me.
