Books We are Reading This Summer 1

Last week, our church had an awesome book swap.  There were hundreds of books – that were collected in a huge book donation effort.

It really is amazing –  the efforts the church puts forth.

Anyway, we were allowed to pick freely – and anything not taken would be donated.   Sweet, yes?

I chose so many books, that I could hardly carry them outside to the car.  Check out the awesome finds.

Literature - Swap

Awesome, right?  The Hans Christian Anderson book has a collection of stories, including: The Princess and the Pea, Thumbelina, The Emperors New Clothes, The Little Mermaid, The Little Match Girl, The Ugly Duckling, The Nightingale, and The Steadfast Tin Soldier.

Fun History - Swap

The Paul Revere book reminds me of the North Church in Boston.  Man, I really want to take that tour again.  I really miss New Englnd.  The kids love it!  I think Dino would love the Dino books Dino Hero Mommy!  I’m sure he already has these books!

Tongue Twisters

Great for Literacy!  Plus, Dr. Seuss is always a great choice.

Awesome Classic Chapter Books for Kids

Classic Chapter Books - Swap

Hadyn has been reading chapter books for a few years now.  He loves them.  He’s been reading the Diary of a Wimpy Kid Series, and The Henry and Ramona series.  Here are some awesome books to add to our collection!

Books We Read This Week

Reading now - Library

I’m on a reading stories from around the world kick.  I checked out a bunch of books of stories from different countries.  The first one we read was The Egyptian Cinderella.  I love this book because it incorporates fact and fable.  It supports many of the facts we learned in our history lessons this year – which is awesome.

This book is a telling of a servant girl named Rhodopis.   She is different from the other Egyptian girls because she is fair skinned and has straight blond hair and as a result, she is ridiculed and ordered around.  We learned that she is is from Greece (Rhodopis means rosy in Greek), and was stolen as a baby and taken to Egypt.  You should definitely read this Cinderella story to see how it unfolds.  I promise you, it’s not the same old fairytale!

Hadyn is reading Leave It To Chance.  I’m not much of a comic book reader, but he certainly likes it.  In our library there are 3 books in the series, and he has read the first one – which is Halloween Stories.

It keeps his attention – and there are no guns – so – it’s cool!

    • Yeah, it was a huge blessing. I actually don’t know why the lord blesses me so much. I don’t deserve it. I haven’t been too faithful lately – and haven’t been going to church for the past 3 Sundays.

I wonder if Heavenly Father believes in Payback? I wonder what I can do to pay him back for everything he has given me – when I haven’t been good – at all.

      Have a wonderful Sunday!

      • Oh darling, our faith is not measured by our church attendance. Remember, your most important ministry is in your home. It is easy to forget that (trust me, I know). 🙂

What would you want your child/son to say to you when they feel bad? I think that is all our Heavenly Father wishes – for a heart that loves Him – the rest will follow…And just as we forgive and always love our children, our God in Heaven does the same for us.

Hugs and Blessings to you all and may you have a VERY HAPPY ANNIVERARY!

      • You are so wise, and you are so right! I love when you say the most important ministry is in your home! You are right about that!

I find it amazing that he has so much love for us. Sometimes, I find it almost impossible to love us, you know?

Thanks so much for the words!
