Whether or not you consider yourself a clean freak, most of us have a cabinet in our homes, which is full of all kinds of cleaning products. How would you feel if you found out that more than half of these products might actually be making you sick?

Commercial cleaning products contain a lot of harsh, toxic chemicals. Over time, these chemicals affect not only your home but also those living inside it. From allergies to respiratory issues, a lot of harm comes from the constant use of toxic chemical cleaners.

In this article, you will find out about how you can clean your home efficiently without using any of these horrible toxic chemicals.

  • Baking Soda

Any cleaning enthusiast is aware of the versatile nature of baking soda. This miracle product can help remove stains, odors, and stubborn grime, all the while being gentle enough to even use on your teeth!

You can use baking soda for a variety of purposes, either on its own or you can mix it along with other ingredients. Here are a few you should know about.

In case of any liquid or oil spills, you can sprinkle some baking soda to help the liquid absorb quickly. After this, you can easily dust away or vacuum away the powder. This not only helps you get rid of the stains but also removes any odor.

You can pour baking soda down your sink, pipes, and drains to remove odors and stubborn grime. Pour some baking soda down the drain, allow it to sit for around 20 minutes, and then rinse it away.

Create a mixture of baking soda, warm water, and a few drops of your favorite dish soap. Apply this paste on your dishes to deep clean all kinds of stuck-on food residue, grime, and even wholly remove odors.

  • Lemon

Lemon is exceptionally acidic – and this can come to your advantage when you want to clean your house naturally. You can use half a lemon, or squeeze out the juice and use just that for cleaning purposes.

Here are some ways in which you can use lemon:

  1. Cut half and lemon and use it to gently scrub your dishes or even for polishing metal appliances.
  2. Apply some salt to the lemon to use it as a scrubbing agent.
  3. Dilute lemon juice with some water and use it for cleaning wooden cutting boards in your kitchen.
  4. Apply lemon juice inside your toilet rims to get rid of odors as well as grout and stubborn stains.
  5. Dilute lemon juice with water and pour it into a spray bottle. Use this spray inside your microwave or on your shower tiles for cleaning stains and removing odors.

  • White Vinegar

White vinegar can be a magic ingredient for those who wish to clean their homes without any toxic chemicals. This product is versatile and extremely useful. Make sure that you don’t mix vinegar and baking soda together, as it will creating a bubbling, frothing mess tha

t can be hard to clean up! Dilute the white vinegar with water so that it is not too abrasive and easier to use as a cleaning product.

Here are some ways in which you can use white vinegar for cleaning your home:

  1. Dilute white vinegar with water. Pour in just a few drops of your favorite essential oil to create a pleasant smelling cleaning product. Pour this solution into a spray bottle, and you will have a great, versatile cleaning solution for your home.
  2. Apply the vinegar solution on almost any product on your home (other than soft fabrics, leather, etc.).
  3. Spray the vinegar solution in your bathroom, kitchen, on blinds, and even furniture. Allow the solution to soak for just a few minutes, and then wipe it away with a damp cloth. Make sure that you dry the area with a soft cloth again to avoid any streaking or staining.

  • Olive Oil

Olive oil is excellent for a variety of cleaning purposes. Of course, make sure that you use a good quality olive oil, and start off with very little. You can always add more oil if you need to. If you start off with too much product, you might find it challenging to clean up later on.

Here are a few ways in which you can use olive oil for cleaning your home:

  1. Take a soft cloth and add a few drops of olive oil and a few drops of vinegar on it. Use this cloth to clean away, especially dirty wood. Once you finish, you can always wipe away the oil with another clean cloth.
  2. Apply just a drop or two of olive oil on your leather products to remove any scratches. Make sure to be gentle when doing so to avoid adding any more scratches to your leather.
  3. In case you find any stubborn, stuck-on food residue in your pans or your iron skillet, you can use olive oil easily to help you. Apply a few drops of olive oil into the pan or the iron skillet. Now, drop in some coarse salt into it. Take a stiff brush and some hot water and start scrubbing. You will see that the stains and grime are much easier to remove now!

  • Microfiber cloths

Not many people know this, but microfiber cloths are actually magic! Well, they’re close!

You can use antibacterial microfiber cloths and mops to clean almost your entire house.

The cloth picks up the tiny bits of dirt and dust quickly. You don’t even need to use any cleaning products. Switch all your regular cloths to microfiber cloths for a more comfortable cleaning ritual in your home.

Switching to green products is a really great strategy for any household. Toxic chemical cleanings are harmful and can cause a lot of health issues if you continue to use them for too long. You are not only saving your home but also your environment. Switch to this environment-friendly, non-toxic cleaning methods for your home and have a happy and healthy home!

My go to is a dilution of vinegar in distilled water and microfiber clothes.  It works on just about all surfaces!  I love it!  How are you keeping your home clean without chemicals?
