I participated in the Carnival for Natural Parenting – and this month the topic was family recipes. One of the recipes was an awesome DIY 3 in 1 Hand, dish, dish soap, and dishwasher soap from Jennifer (@HybridRastaMama) of The Natural Parenting Network . I want to try it out.
It’s a very easy and very natural recipe. I deviated from her recipe just a bit, cause I used what I had around the house.
Ingredients:
- An 8 oz bar of Kiss My Face Olive oil soap which I cut in half.
- 8 cups of water infused with lime (for 24 hours)
- Bergamot Essential Oil
Directions:
1.
I cut the soap in half and put half in the freezer
2.
I shaved the soap. Jennifer used a cheese grater, but since I didn’t have one of those, I used a knife. It was easy to shave since the bar was frozen.
3.
I heated up the lime infused water to boiling and then turned off the heat. I put in the soap, and maybe 10 dashes of the Bergamot Essential Oil and mixed aggressively with a wire whisk. I allowed it to sit covered overnight. My mixture was homogenous, so I then put the mixture in a mason jar, a washed out Palmolive bottle and a hand soap dispenser, and used. If your mixture isn’t homogenous, then aggressively mix with a wire whisk and allow it to sit (covered) another 8-10 hours.
4.
5. So then i tried it
Those are not spots, they are etching in the glass (due to almost 11 years of use). They are pristine!
Thanks so much Jennifer for the awesome – and green recipe!

It smelled delicious! Well, not yesterday – as any smell made me feel like I was going to hurl (ate something bad). It’s nice and light and refreshing!
