Happiness is Gold

Yesterday was a very busy day preparing for the Blue and Gold Banquet for the Cub Scouts.  Of course, I didn’t have anything to do with planning it – but I still had a busy day – constantly moving.

I think I got a little help enjoying it.

I took Hadyn over to a friends house who helped him make his cake (Mom was too tired and doesn’t have the talent).  The Komodo Dragon was her idea.  Hadyn helped her to bake and decorate it.

Ava, Gray and I came home, went to visit teach a sister in the Ward and come back.

While they played, I made a layered Mexican dip for the banquet.  I made my own Guacamole and taco meat, and just layered it with refried beans, sour cream and cheese.

Then, I had a lot of fun taking pictures at the banquet, which really really made me happy.

They had a program and invited an animal rescue to bring some beautiful and magnificent animals.

Isn’t that Great Horned Owl beautiful?

The theme was snails and tails.  Look at all the beautiful cakes the kids made!  So much talent!

Honestly, I was tired, worn down and ready to go.  It was a long day and night.  The kids had a lot of fun though.

A lot of times, my happiness doesn’t come directly, but through doing things that make Others happy.

  1. TRUTH!! As mothers, our JOBS are to make others happy, and sometimes I forget to see that I am happy because of that!! Great cakes! They all look so yummy.

    • Very true.

For me – I have to see it – or else I would be crazed. Seriously!

I have learned to try to see the positive in everything. It makes me happy.

  2. Those cakes all look so good! Love the pics of the kids too.

  3. All of those cakes are so cute!!

  4. Those cakes are so cool; especially the dragon! 😉 I have a hard time neatly frosting a cake let alone making cakes like those! Awesome job on everyone’s part!

    • Yes. I am a terrible cake maker. One year I made Hadyn’s birthday cake. That was the last year I made Hadyn’s birthday cake. I’m so bad.

      Thanks for stopping by, Lisa

  5. Those cakes are amazing! Today what made me happy was trying to make a Spiderman outfit and mask out of paper for my 3 year old. I started trying to do it a little begrudgingly, and then really got into it as I went along.

    • Awesome! You are uber talented though – so I imagine that it turned out really really well. I would love to see a picture.

  6. Amen!!! And WOWOWOW those cakes are all AWESOME!!

    • They did an excellent job! I was also quite impressed. Thinking about asking one of those kids to do a special cake so then I can feature them on my blog.
