It’s been very dreary here. It’s been cloudy, cold, windy, rainy/snowy.. .and just blah. Over the past few days, I have been soul searching in what makes me happy. It’s kind of hard to find happiness when you just feel cold and blah, you know? So, when I couldn’t come up with anything – and I was getting quite frustrated. I decided to just take out my camera and take it with me wherever I go – and just snap pictures when I see something that gives me a good feeling.
So that’s what I did.
And when I was finished with this exercise, I looked at all the pictures – and realized that no matter if it was a sleeping baby, helping my daughter learn violin, being able to take control of my children’s education, a tree without leaves, a Daddy who finally comes home from work to spend time with his kids, a shot of the horizon or dead winter grass, or a bush that’s not quite even. Even just going to the gym and taking time for myself…
It’s not just one moment in time that brings me happiness.
But a collection of every single moment.
It was then that I realized. It was life – that makes me happy.

Oh my goodness, I love love LOVE this! I often do the exact same! Its when I stop focusing on the negative, and seeing all the positive everywhere… yes! Love your photos!
Lisa, sometimes I just have to stop and look around. When everything seems so stuffed up – I have to concentrate on the beauty in life – or else I would go crazy. Seriously, this is what has saved me from all the mess.
Thanks so much for stopping by!

This is so sweet! I love the way you put it “It’s not just one moment in time that brings me happiness…It was life – that makes me happy” I dont like it when its so dreary either (like today), it brings me down. Thats why i try to soak up the sunshine when its out.
Dreary days are dreary days, but even in their dreariness – there is always something that’s bright and alive!
Winters here in DC/Maryland tend to be dreary, so it’s important to find some sort of positive, otherwise, it’s just depressing.

Thanks Mama!
when I stop to count my blessings I am amazed at how much I have to be thankful for…and gratitude is happiness.
Yes, that is very very true. It’s important to count blessings everyday. But more importantly to give thanks for those blessings
