How do I Do It – Breastfeeding, Baby, Fitness – All While Homeschooling?

How I manage #homeschooling #fitness #family #baby and more #21dfx
Very carefully!  šŸ™‚

I am very busy, and it was impossible and unbearable when I wasn’t focused.  Focus is everything.  You have to decide what is the most important to you, and do that.  Even if there is something on your list where you will make money.  Focus on what’s important.

For me.

  1. Homeschooling
  2. Fitness
  3. Kids
  4. Business

After making a list, I figured out that I want to continue homeschooling no matter what.  That’s very important to me.  So, I dedicate much of my time to finding better ways of educating my kids.  I want them to get to college, so I am 100% focused on that.

To get them to college, so that they won’t have student loans, and to give them the best possible education – I need to be able to bring them places and get them to where the learning happens.  Plus, I want them to go to the best of the best collages – if they want to go.  I don’t want money to get in the way of whatever they want to do.  So, the business supports that effort.

This makes the business piece essential.

Plus, it feels pretty good to help people achieve their goals.

This is for everyone.  First, I need to feel good about me.  I need to be able to look at pictures of myself, and look at myself in the mirror.

These things are important if I am to be a good homeschooling mentor, a wife, a mother and a friend.  I have to feel good.

This is what the fitness piece is about.  I am focused and driven on losing weight, and being more healthy.

Its my choice to live the best life possible – not only for me, but also my family.  My fitness journey has influenced everyone in this house.  My hubby has cut out alcohol and has gone to the gym.  My son is working out with me, eating better and getting trimmer.  My daughter also works out with me – and puts health on the top of her list.  The two little ones see me struggle everyday.

It’s all normal.

Yes, of course, the kids are the most important.  It’s important that they are healthy and happy.

How do I Balance?

It’s not hard.  The kids know how important my exercise is.  With only 30 minutes, it’s easy to do a workout while the kids are working independently.  I put the baby in the bouncy seat and go-go-go.  Then, when I am done, the kids can ask me questions and I go on with my day.

Some days I do double workouts.  Basically, every time you work out, it boosts your metabolism.  So I do a workout in the morning and one again in the evening.  I get two boosts a day for a bit more metabolic energy.

If I am doing a second workout, I wait until school is over – maybe right before or after the kids eat dinner (depends upon whether the kids join me for the second workout).

I have been very clear about how important my workouts are.  Everyone knows it.  If there is a fire, I will stop – otherwise – whatever it is waits until I’m done.

I do this because it’s my time with me, to be me.  And time to be with myself, doing something good for myself is of utmost importance.  I don’t feel guilty.  I don’t regret.  I love it – and I ask my kids to respect my time.

All other times of the day are for them, but my 30-60 minutes a day – 100% about me.

As a result, I have lost 80 lbs, have become healthier and feel the best I ever have!

With activities, I just adjust the times.  I might get up earlier, or do my second workout a bit later.

Regardless, my workouts are non-negotiable.  They are part of my life and my lifestyle.  I ALWAYS get them in.  ALWAYS.  I did my two workouts on Christmas, Thanksgiving and my birthday.

ALWAYS and I make no exceptions or excuses because that is what it takes to get it done.

What About Meals?

If you haven’t noticed, making meals for 4 kids (or more) 3 times a day is a HUGE time suck.

I don’t meal plan.  I have to plan homeschool days and business stuff, I don’t have the time to meal plan or have the money to make all these healthy gourmet meals.  I cook very simply.  I food prep on Sunday – chicken breasts for me and chicken legs for the kids.  I put them in the freezer and heat as necessary.  I cook beans, brown rice, chop veggies, etc.

For most of the week, it’s gotta be grab, heat up and go.

For me, one meal a day is always Shakeology. It’s an easy and affordable way to get my 70 superfoods, my probiotic, my multi-vitamin and my sugar craving – all in one delicious frosty whole-food shake!

Did I mention that it’s easy?

I find that a simple, easy clean eating diet works best for me.  I do eat differently than the kids, but with my grab-and-go method, it works.

Breastfeeding and Baby

working out, breastfeeding, baby, family, homeschooling - getting it all done #21dfx

I think we all agree (probably me more than most) that baby can be unpredictable.  I don’t put my babies on schedules and such – which would probably make you say – what?

I don’t.  I go with the flow with baby.  If she is fussy during school, I put her in the sling – and that relaxes her right away!  She feeds when the kids work independently and right before my workout (helps her to be a bit more calm).  If the kids need help with something, they just come and ask.

It’s not a big deal.

The Newborn stage was less challenging cause the baby would sleep most of the day.

Now at 9 moths we use the sling a lot.  Haha!
