Did you know that September 6th was #FitMadeFun day? This is the day dedicated to kids getting up, kids getting out, and kids getting moving! We celebrated with Leap Frog Leap Band and the Clif Kid Zbar.
What is the Leap Band?
The Leap Band is a fun way to promote #kidfitness. Simply put, it’s a toy that you wear around your wrist. The Leap Band has many functions. When you start-up, your child will have the opportunity to choose and customize their pet. This is the pet they will exercise with, play with and earn activity points.
Get up and Active
In this mode, your child will exercise with his/her pet and earn activity points. They will complete activity challenges, like jumping up and down, running or following various other tasks. when they complete challenges they will earn Joules – or activity points. If you earn enough, he/she will unlock other pets and capabilities. The more active your child is, the more he/she will earn and the more he/she will learn about fitness and health – and the importance of staying healthy.
Play with your pet
Through the play with your pet mode, your child will learn healthy habits. They will learn about eating, about cleaning – all through taking care of their own Leap Band pet. It’s really fun for the kids.
Measures your child’s activity levels
If you just put the Leap Band around your child’s wrist, it will measure their activity, no matter what they do. So, while we participated in #FitMadeFun day, we have used our leap bands while playing outside, running around and playing tennis. It really goes anywhere.
In fact, Sunday September 7th was National Nickelodeon Kids Day of Play. So we took the entire weekend to celebrate and embrace #kidfitness with walks, runs, tennis and the Leap Band.
The Leap Band is very convenient
It’s easy to play with one kid or 10. It’s adaptable. I love that there are parent controls, so you can set it to lock during quiet and school times. There are also clear audio instructions so moms who do not want to read the instructions, or pre-readers can take it out of the box and use it! There is a recharable battery. You don’t have to worry about buying expensive button batteries! Just plug it into your laptop or desktop with a convenient USB connection. In fact, if you have other Leap Frog products, the Leap Pad Ultra and the Leap Reader use the same connection! If you lose one cord, you don’t have to worry, there is another one not far away. Also, the connection is standard to any digital camera or DVD player. I have tons of cords in my home that will fit and do the job!
More importantly, it gets the kids moving without it feeling like work. I am 100% supportive of #kidfitness – and if it’s fun – all the better.
Clif Kids Zbar
We enhanced our experience with the protein rich Zbar by Clif Kids. Honestly, my kids love these. They want to eat them all the time.
The Clif Zbar is a nutritious and delicious whole grain protein snack made for kids’ growing bodies. It’s made with 70% organic ingredients offering 5g of complete protein, and is an excellent source of calcium, vitamin D and Zinc. The Zbar comes in three flavors: Chocolate Chip, Chocolate Mint and Peanut Butter.
They also make for fantastic healthy snacks for your kids – that are easy! Your child can just eat the bar, or you can make an interesting and healthy dessert! You just need the following…
- Non-fat or low-fat Greek yogurt or yogurt cups.
- Clif Zbars
- Blueberries
- Strawberries
- granola
- other toppings of choice
Directions
- Crumble the Zbars into a bowl
- Put the other ingredients in a bowl
- Line up your bowls, and allow your kids to customize their snacks.

This is a neat little toy, Lisa! I have never heard of Leap band before. What age kiddos do you think would this be perfect for?
Hey Bekki,
This is perfect for ages 4-7. The band part is really limited. I tried it on my 10 year old – and it didn’t fit. Thanks so much for stopping by!
