Introducting Maria – Once Upon a Story

I met a lovely author during the Friday night Bloggiesta twitter chat.  I sent out a random message asking if anyone knew someone who wrote or reviewed books for children.  She mentioned that she did, and also gave me information on someone else.

In her past, Maria taught 4th and 5th graders in the language arts (grammar, literature, reading, etc.).  She really enjoyed it, but more importantly, was happy that she didn’t have to teach math.

When she moved, it was time for a change.  Moving often does that, doesn’t it?  She decided to leave her job and pursue a Masters degree in Library Science.

In 2009 she had a beautiful girl, followed by another girl in 2011.  She still has a passion for Children’s literature, despite her life being filled with drool, spit up, and all the joys that children bring.  Her passion for literature is where Once Upon a Story was born.  She wants to show parents that they don’t need expensive curriculum and fancy kits to instill a love for reading.

You can find Maria at Once Upon a Story

I did!

I am so happy that I met her – and look forward to getting to know her better.   She writes very honest and heartfelt reviews.  I feel that her recommendations come from personal experiences.  I love that!  I look forward to getting some books (based on her recommendation) from the library – especially the ones that she recommends for infants – reading them – and then crediting her on my blog.

I know my kids will enjoy them!

  1. Thanks for the spotlight! I will have to get to know Maria better! Thanks also for playing along with Bloggiesta this weekend. You’ve been awesome.

  2. Carica,

Thanks so much for stopping by! You are too sweet!

The fact that you stopped by gave me an excellent idea! I will hop over to your blog to learn more about you.

  3. I love learning about other bloggers, thanks for letting us know about Maria. It seems blogs are like kids, we know each other by blog name but not necessarily by first name till you get to know someone better. Nice feature of Maria.

    • Hey again Tanya,

You are absolutely right! I am making a huge effort to learning names. I’m seeing many of the same people in comments and such. When I can associate the picture, name and blog – I consider it a personal triumph! haha!

      Thank you!

  4. thanks for this referral! we are always always interested in good children’s books and children’s movies.
