Mother’s Day Gifts Fit for a Fitmama

The traditional Mother’s Day gifts are still relevant today.  I really love receiving a dozen roses and a poem from my kids for Mother’s day.  There is just something special about a bunch of beautiful flowers that I cannot resist.

Last year the kids got me a poem which I have hung in the kitchen.  I get to appreciate it each and every day! mother's-day-gift-ideas

But if the special woman in your life has health and fitness goals, how about supporting her efforts?  I know that I appreciate it when my family makes it just a bit easier to obtain goals that are difficult to accomplish.  Not only is that being supportive, but it also shows her that her dreams are relevant and important.

It takes a lot of time and effort to lose weight, or get more defined abs, or get faster in a race.  These are not small things, and it’s time to recognize women for their hard-earned efforts.

It’s not about being body negative.  It’s about being supportive.  A supported person will go further and be happier.

So in that vein, here are some ideas for Mother’s Day gifts that support the important fitmama in your life.

Fitbit Iconic

This is top on my list.  I now have the Fitbit Charge 2, and would love an upgrade.  My Charge 2 isn’t water proof, and I am adding swimming to my regimen of weekly workout routines.

I love my Fitbit.  I love the heart rate and calorie functions.  I love the steps and I love how it tracks all of my activity and can see my activity vs. results in an easy way.

Yeah, maybe it’s first on my list because I really want one.  However, I think this is a great Mother’s Day gift that’s more than fit for a fitmama!

Thrive Market Membership

Thrive Market sells your favorite organic and non-gmo brands for up to 50% off retail.

I always say that reaching your health and fitness goals are 90% in the kitchen and 10% in the gym.  What you put in your mouth and when is essential.  Food quality is crucial.  You want good organic products purchased as close to the source as possible.  Meats should be organic, grass-fed and pasture-raised.  Dairy products should be non-processed and raw.  You should get away from the processed grains and refined sugars and replace them with unrefined and grain free.

Thrive Market is the leading organic marketplace online, with prices discounted 30-50% less than your neighborhood store, co-op, and Whole Foods.  It’s convenient, well stocked and fast!

Thrive has been my saving grace.  I am able to get good products and over the year have saved over $1,000.

It’s good food served to your door at amazing prices.

Instant Pot

You might think buying a kitchen appliance for Mother’s Day is the same as buying a vacuum, but it’s not.  This is different.

I bought an Instant Pot last year, and let me tell you, it was the best purchase I made.  I LOVE my Instant Pot.  I make AMAZING meals that are healthy and full of nutrients.

I love my Instant Pot bone broth.  It’s yummy collagen which is great for your hair, nails and skin.  Plus the magnesium, calcium and potassium nourish my body.  Where cooking the bones on the stove takes 24-hours, I can do it in a fraction of the time under pressure.  90-minutes and it’s done!

Have you heard of skyr yogurt?  It’s an Icelandic yogurt made from skim milk.  It’s super high in protein and has zero fat.  I love it and i make it in the Instant Pot!  I eat it for dessert with low carbohydrate berries.  It increases my protein consumption, and is creamy and delicious.

I have made a number of really great ketogenic and paleo recipes using my Instant Pot.  Now, I don’t know how I lived without it.

Foam Roller

This may seem like a funny one, but trust me.  The weights, cardio, running, etc – a body in fitness will need a bit of massage and rest.  A foam Roller is the perfect addition to any fitmama’s arsenal of fit stuff.  That pain in her hip, back, shoulder – a foam roller will do the trick, and help her get back and stay back in the gym.

I am talking from experience here.  As I type this, I could use a good foam roll.  LOL.  Those burpees with tuck jump I did this morning is talking to me now!

This is a great gift for loosening tight fascia and making her feel more relaxed all around.

Home gym equipment

This is a no-brainer.  I’m a busy mom of 4.  I so get it.  I lost all my 160 lbs. at home.  I didn’t join a gym until I reached my goal.

Jump rope

barbells + end plates

Ab roller

Resistance bands plus anchor

Loop resistance bands

2-3 different height plyo platforms

It will do the trick.

The one piece of heavy equipment that I wished I had here was a treadmill.  I could use a treadmill at home.

Good tunes make the workout go faster.  She can Plug in her ipod, iphone, ipad or put on some headphones.  She can purchase an interval tracker app and bust her morning HIIT workout with a iTunes gift card!

I rely on my music and my interval tracker.  Both of those run my workouts.  If I get to the gym and find out I forgot my iphone, I have driven all the way back to get it.

No kidding.  I would totally appreciate a $50 gift card to get the apps I need, as well as download some new motivating music.

I have this gives you ideas on how you can support your favorite fitmama with gifts all over the board.  My advice, the Fitbit Iconic!  If she already has one, pick from one of the others.  These are all good, practical suggestions.

I appreciate having all of these and would be thrilled with any as a Mother’s Day gift.
What do you plan to give the fitmama in your life?
