Pack It educational game by SimplyFun #homeschool

Have you heard of SimplyFun?  Well, if you haven’t, they offer a fun selection of high quality board games, that will keep your children of all elementary ages engaged and entertained, while they learn new skills or develop the skills they already posses.    We completed a review of Kilter last year, and we are still loving that game as we learn and more about physics.

Pack It is another fun game from SimplyFun!  Pack It is a game that works on logical thinking and strategy.  In this game, your character will go camping.  You will build your backpack, deciding which supplies you need.  Once you have enough supplies, you decide whether or not to take a hike.  The only way to build points in this game is by going on a hike – but be careful to pay attention to whether you are really ready.   The last player to be on the hike gets the points.   If you make the wrong choice, you end up losing supplies and risk having to build your backpack again.

Pack-it was created for 2-5 players, ages 8 years and up, but my 6-year-old loves it.  She doesn’t understand all the intricacies, but she is learning – and catches on quickly.

Pack It is so much fun for the entire family!

Notes on Pack It

  • Pack It has a lot of rules, so make sure to keep the instructions handy.  They are your guide as you are learning your way around the game.
  • Consult the rule book often.
  • I felt that some of the rules were a little vague.  But as you play, they will become clear.  And if you are like me, you will use logic to figure it out.
  • I felt that it was easier to review the rules (out loud) as we played the game.  It definitely helped the younger players and the old mom get the groove a lot faster.
  • After the first game, your kids will want to play again and again!

  1. Pi think I recognize characters in that game. Anytime I can incorporate games into our lessons my son more easily embraces learning.

  2. I use games with my kids in every subject. We use bought games and make up our own — whatever it takes to help them remember about history and science and math and to learn about poetry and artists and music. I think the very best learning comes when they don’t even realize they ARE learning.

Playing games with the kids is a great way for them to learn and to spend quality time together. Games teach kids how to follow rules, be orderly and how to win/lose graciously.

  6. Every once in a while, I’ll tell my daughter that we’ll skip all of her regularly assigned school work and just have a game day. It helps when we’re feeling burned out, and she learns as much or more when we’re playing games.

  9. We have “Family Game Night” once a week with our kids and it is such a special time for all of us. We often play educational games during our homeschool time but it’s so much fun to play games together once a week and laugh, be a little competitive, and make great memories.

We make it fun so they can learn.
