Book Review – The Perpetual Papers of the Pack of Pets

Stanley and Katrina Title:  The Perpetual Papers of the Pack of Pets

Authors: Katrina Von Cat The Master of Wisdom and Knowledge (and Stanley)

Year Published: 2012

About the Authors: Katrina is an eight-year-old grey tabby cat who loves her toy mouse.  Stanley is a three-year-old black Labrador/Rottweiler mix who does his best to ignore Katrina.

It’s no mistake that I put Stanley’s name in Parentheses.  Katrina Von Cat The Master of Wisdom and Knowledge is definitely in charge.  She is the head honcho in this crew!

I find it totally amazing that a dog and cat wrote this book!  They don’t even have opposable thumbs.  How is it possible?  Well, some things cannot be explained – and as you will see, Stanley and Katrina fall into this category.  Stanley and Katrina have lived with each other for 3 years before they began communicating with each other through letters.

Stanley and Katrina Von Cat Master of Wisdom and Knowledge are quite intelligent. I always learn something new when I log into their website and facebook page.  Both are filled with interesting facts that kids and adults will love!

Review: What a fantastic book for kids of all ages!

Such a good story!

I read this book to my 8 year old son, my 4 year old daughter and my 9 month old son – as a family read aloud.  We have read chapter books as read alouds before, and my daughter was never interested.  She would walk away and play Barbies or listen to music. Stanley and Katrina’s book not only kept her attention – but she looked forward to our read aloud session each night.  They both “laughed out loud” at all of Stanley and Katrina’s antics.

Rarely do my son and daughter agree on a book to read.  This one, hands down – both of them loved.  In fact, after we finished reading, my son would then pick it up and read some more.  It’s one of those books that they can read again and again – and enjoy it as if it was the first time!

This book is really great for kids.  It’s well written.  With just a few loveable Characters; Stanley, Katrina The Master of Wisdom and Knowledge, Mr. Fluffypants (AKA Zorg – the want to be astronaut), the owner, and Mort (a worldly bunny) – my kids were able to identify with- and relate to  the characters.  The story was easy to follow from beginning to end – and very funny!

This is a great book with a few great words that we used as “words of the week” in our homeschool.  Not only is this a great book, but we learned with Stanley and Katrina.

My son was inspired by the book – and has taken an interest in writing stories himself.

If that’s not cool, I don’t know what is.

Stanley and Katrina left us with a cliffhanger at the end.  We cannot wait until the next book comes out to learn what happened!

Ages: 4+

A great story with great characters, that both boys and girls of all ages will love – I give The Perpetual Papers of the Pack of Pets 5 stars – hands down!

Where to purchase this bookAmazon.com of course.  I’m an old fogey, so I prefer to purchase the  hard copy,  but for the new-fangled-electronically inclined type, the Kindle edition is available for only $0.99.  Amazon even has it’s own Kindle reader – so, no Kindle required!

  1. Wow. This review is amazing, Squishy Lady. Thank you so very much for sharing how much your family enjoyed our book. It makes us motivated to get back on our book #2. There is nothing Stanley and I like more (other than treats) than knowing we inspired a child to write. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
