Ten Things of Thankful

The More Grateful I am, the more Reasons I Find to be Grateful

I didn’t know what  I was going to write about today.  I had a few ideas in my head, but I wasn’t excited by any in particular.  I am feeling – kind of – blah.  Things are very stressful for me right now.  Sometimes, it’s difficult being the first.  Sometimes, you just need the road paved – just once.

I really don’t understand where I have failed as a partner, wife, mother, or human being.  It’s really hard to understand the treatment that comes via the way of other individuals.  It’s much too difficult to even comprehend.

I’m probably naive – but these are the things that run through my mind on a daily basis.  So, today, even though I didn’t feel like it – it was fortuitous that Ninee’s daily blog email dinged through.  It provided me the much-needed inspiration .  It provided me the little  light of hope – the flint that started the fire!

So, there are my 10 Things of Thankful!

  1.  My children – because without them – I wouldn’t be the wonderful person that I have become.  They have taught me everything that is important in and about  life.  They are all my reasons.
  2. Sleeping kids Kids a-sleeping.  Yes, when I am tired and can’t imagine doing it one more minute or my head will just explode off of my neck.  You know, those weeks and months when you are up from 2AM -12 AM everyday  – non-stop.  Kids sleeping for a while – is a blessing.
  3. Love
  4. My life
  5. Springtime
  6. Chocolate Cake When everything else fails, you always have chocolate cake!
  7. My Mother – who taught me everything about what a “pure love” of child means.  A Mother’s love is like nothing that can be duplicated.  I think it’s only second to the love that our Heavenly Father has for us.
  8. Hadyn's Writing The beginning of this year, my son was not confident in his writing.  He was scared to write.  He wasn’t confident with his letter formation.  It got so bad, someone came up to me and ask me if he could even write.  Of course he could.  Duh.  So, I instituted a cursive writing program in our homeschool.  Now, 9 months later, he is asking me daily for paper so he can write notes to himself –  to remember things.  I came across this note while I was cleaning.  Look at the letter formation!  Look at how straight the letters are.  YES!  *fist pump!
  9. My health
  10. My Church.  No matter how incomprehensible things get – I always come back to the same line.  Everyone is fallen.  Everyone has their “things”.  Everyone has their insecurities that make them act the way they do.  It doesn’t excuse their behavior – but it gives me a reason to begin to understand – and forgive.

What are you thankful for?

  2. Good List (excellent juxtaposition with the photos)… it does seems to take have a context that we can place ourselves within, in order to makes (meaningful) sense of the things that people do and say at times.

  4. Lisa,
This is such a great, wonderful, beautiful list! I’m so glad that you linked up with us today. It’s funny because, I, too, was feeling overwhelmed and uninspired today but once I sat down to write my list I realize how very blessed and lucky that I am. That’s what I love about this 10 things to be thankful for blog hop. Your son’s writing is not only very perfect but he can spell paralyzer! I’d be giving that one a fist bump all by itself! Adorable photo of your little dude sleeping! And this: “They have taught me everything that is important in and about life. They are all my reasons.” That, I loved extra big. Happy Sunday. I hope this is a really great week for you and that you can find a way to be easy with yourself!

  7. great list babe…so true about children teaching you what really matters in life. I agree with church and faith. I love that my son keeps quoting a verse from a song in Veggie Tales…”God is bigger than the boogie man.” I hope he holds on to that simple belief that God is always there watching over him and will be there for him no matter what the struggle or decision in life may be.
