Environmentally Friendly “Ethical” Toys that Make a Difference

#handmade Pebble by Kahiniwalla #organic #toys that make a difference in the lives of others

With the holidays approaching, it’s time to start thinking about purchasing toys that you kids will love.  With the state of the world as it is, I have been double thinking my choices.  I want to make good choices, choices that I believe in.  I want to choose toys that will intellectually benefit the kids, toys that are environmentally responsible (as the environment is going to take a huge hit in the next few years) and will make the lives of others better (in the age of extreme wide-spread excepted bigotry and sexism).

A Business I Believe in

Kahiniwalla is a business which distributes Fair Trade products . They care about the quality of their products, consequently, they are made with the bigger picture in mind. Pebble is one of these products designed by Samantha Morshed, a social entrepreneur based in Bangladesh. Samantha’s vision for Pebble is providing a place close to rural homes in Dhaka where women could work flexible hours which is what 12,000+ rural women were looking for. These rural workplaces provide a welcome alternative to women moving to a large city to work in the garment industry leaving their families behind and making themselves vulnerable to unsafe, unjust and sometimes violent situations.

Roya loves her organic rainbow bunny.  She carries it everywhere and sleeps with it.  In fact, I had to look wide and far to finally find it in one of her favorite hiding places.  It’s soft, cuddly and engaging for babies and toddlers.
