Homeschool Blog Carnival

Welcome to the Homeschool Blogging Carnival hosted by Moi –  Lisa @ The Squishable Baby and Keisha @ Unschooling Momma.  We are so happy that you are considering participating in our monthly Homeschool Blog Carnival.

Please join Keisha and I in the Homeschool Blogging Carnival hosted on the Fourth Friday of each month.  Please read below about submission details and Blog carnival topics.

Blog Carnivals

Blog carnivals are a good way to build community, garner support and learn new things – as we travel this homeschooling adventure together!  If you never have participated in a blog carnival, it’s a time when a group of bloggers come together and talk about one particular topic on one particular day.  The overall topic we will be discussing is homeschooling – and how we homeschool ourselves and our children.  Each month, the theme will be different (see below) and will be kept up to date.

Anybody can participate in this carnival.  Homeschoolers, Educators and perspective (interested and interested but reluctant) Homeschooling Families are all welcome!  We want to keep this a positive place, so only positive pro-homeschooling posts will be accepted!

Submission Details

The submission deadline is the Friday before the carnival date – or the third Friday in the month.  See below for the dates of future carnivals and the topics of discussion.

To submit an article, please email your submission to Lisa @ lisa {at} squishablebaby {dot} com before the submission deadline.  Also please fill out a webform.  There will be a call for submissions on both mine and Keisha’s blog at least 10 days prior to the submission deadline – so definitely keep an eye out.  The webform will be placed on that blog post.

It’s important that you write a new, previously unpublished post for the Blog Carnival.  Make sure that you Do Not publish your post until the date of the carnival (The last Friday of the month).  We will email you instructions and additional HTML to place in your post prior to publication on the carnival date.

To help you to fill out the webform, determine the URL in advance and to place HTML in WordPress and Blogger – I have created a variety of tutorials.

  1. Pre-determining the URL of your post before publication in Blogger
  2. Pre-determining the URL of your post before publication in wordpress (
  3. Pre-determining the URL of your post before publication in a self-hosted wordpress site (
  4. Placing HTML into a post using Blogger
  5. Placing HTML into a post using WordPress

To create a community, I will share Twitter, Facebook, and Pinterest URLs so everybody can friend each other and get to know each other.

I also have a shared Pinterest board (Homeschool Link-Up) so we can all pin our homeschooling posts in one place!  I am hoping that as it grows – it will be an excellent resource to all (families interested in pursuing a home education and current homeschooling families).

Do’s and Don’ts

Do write on topic.  Do write well.  Do use spell check, and please Do edit your work.

Don’t use profanity or speak of violence against yourself or others.  I want this to be a gentle, compassionate and respectful environment.  Don’t share any anti-homeschool sentiment.

While we will read all the submissions for content, I will not be editing them.
