Important Toy Safety Tips for the Holidays

toy safety tips for holiday shopping #christmas #holiday

I know more than anybody that holidays are fun!  It’s fun to make Christmas magical fo the kids.  With 180,000 toy-related emergency room visits and 11 deaths annually it’s important to make sure that you are making the right choices for your kids.

Blah…blah…blah…I’m a killjoy, I know.  But honestly, I would rather see my kids enjoy the toys, games, and books – rather than have a nightmare.  And if a little smart shopping can prevent the nightmare, then so be it!

Here is a short video on toy safety tips so that you can keep your kids safe and happy during and after the holidays.

Toy Safety Tips for Holiday Shopping

  1. Make sure toys are age-appropriate.  Toys labeled for under 3 have small parts.  Choking hazard!
  2. Make sure to purchase safety gear for ride-on toys (both motorized and non-motorized), bikes, scooters, skateboards and the like.  This way, the kids can get on and ride right away!
  3. Go over safety rules for all toys.  Make sure kids understand that they are not to ride in the streets, and obey the rules of the road.
  4. Building sets with magnets should be kept away from kids who are under 14-years old.
