Setting Monthly Goals – Making A Commitment to Art

Mama Smiles of Joyful Parenting is over in her part of the blogosphere setting monthly goals.  I thought that was a great idea.  I never make New Years Resolutions – simply because things change, priorities change – and I have always thought it was just a waste of time.  However, I loved the idea of setting new goals every month – then holding myself accountable at the end of the month – not a year later.

So, I’m joining in with her with her…

in setting attainable goals for the month of March.

Not to seem unmotivated, but I have one very important (well I think it’s important) goal for this month.

  1. Do a weekly art project with my kids.

It might not seem like a lofty goal – but I really despise art projects.  They are so messy, and it takes so much patience (which I don’t have).  Art has been the one subject that I dislike strongly, and thus it has taken a (very far) backseat in our home school.

So, why not?  I like to broaden my horizons, so this is a challenge I’m ready to meet.

So, how am I going to do this?

Mama Smiles shared a very important link in Google+ .  Thanks Mama!  For this month’s projects, I have committed do doing culturally related art projects each week – which I will feature on my blog on Saturdays.  I am linking up with All Done Monkey’s Cultural Swappers Link up.

There, you can see what what bloggers (like me) are blogging about throughout the Month!

Do you have any favorite art projects that are easy enough for an art unenthusiast?  Comment, I would love to hear about them.

What do you think?  Do you want to link up with Mama Smiles in setting (and fervently meeting) month goals?  Check her out!

  1. Thank you so much for joining in with my monthly goals! I’m really excited to see what cultural art projects you come up with, and I’m thrilled that you’ll be linking up with the culture swapper as well!

    • Oh, it’s going to be a lot of fun. I told the kids about this weeks art project, and they just sort of looked at me like – yeah, right.

Haha! They know me too well.

  2. This is such a great idea! I hate New Years’ resolutions as well, but I think monthly goals are great since you can pat yourself on the back at the end of a few weeks. I can’t wait to see what art projects you choose. I just started a pin board on non-messy art projects if you’re interested. I was actually inspired by a comment you made about how much art projects turn you off, and I know there are lots more parents who feel this same way. SO. There you have it!

    • Oh man, you are fantastic! I am so heading over there to get fuel for my April goals!

      Hooray! Thanks for this!
